Vote Sheffie Robinson for District 9 School Board

I am running for the Richmond County Board of Education to bring thoughtful, policy-driven leadership to district governance, informed by my professional background in workforce and economic development. School board members are responsible for setting expectations, adopting policy, and ensuring accountability, not managing day-to-day operations. My focus is on strengthening how the Board governs so our schools are supported by clear standards, transparent decision-making, and meaningful community engagement.

My campaign is built around three focused objectives that fall squarely within the Board of Education’s authority and responsibility.

My Campaign Objectives

School Support Organization Recognition & Engagement

I will champion a board policy that formally recognizes and supports structured parent, booster, and alumni organizations across Richmond County schools. This policy will set standards for equitable engagement, consistent recognition, and transparent operating expectations to further incorporate the community into instructional spaces.

Districtwide Transparency & Public Accountability

I support policies that strengthen transparency and accountability in district decision-making and address the lack of public trust in the Board of Education. Existing transparency practices must be clearer, more consistent, and more accessible so families, educators, and taxpayers can understand how decisions are made and how priorities are set. This enables all constituents to understand decisions with vested interest.

Creative & Cultural Talent Development

I will advocate for board policies that elevate arts, music, and creative programs as essential components of a well-rounded education. These programs develop critical competencies such as creativity, collaboration, self-expression, and engagement and should be considered in long-term strategic planning with adequate funding for equitable access across grade levels and school types.

Critical Issues Facing Our Schools

As I embark on this journey to serve on the Richmond County Board of Education, I want to be clear about the role of the Board and the responsibility it carries. Our schools are at a crossroads, and strong governance is essential to addressing challenges related to funding priorities, educator support, and student safety. Through clear policy, transparency, and accountability, we can create the conditions for schools to serve students, educators, and the broader community effectively.

  • How will you address funding challenges?

I will focus on transparent budgeting, fiscal oversight, and accountability. Independent audits are one of the tools available to the Board to support public trust, alongside clear reporting and responsible decision-making.

  • What support will you provide for teachers?

I plan to adopt policies that support instructional focus, professional respect, and accountability. Strong governance helps create conditions where teachers can focus on teaching rather than administrative burden.

  • How will you ensure student safety?

Student safety is paramount. I support policies that promote safe, supportive learning environments, including accountability around mental health supports, anti-bullying standards, and safety practices that are regularly reviewed and responsive to community concerns.

  • What is your plan for improving student outcomes?

Student outcomes improve when education goes beyond test scores. I support policies that encourage hands-on learning, extracurricular engagement, and equitable access to student supports so all students have meaningful opportunities to succeed.

  • How will you engage the community?

Strong schools require strong community connection. I support engagement practices that ensure parents, alumni, and community stakeholders have clear, meaningful ways to participate in dialogue and provide input that informs decision-making.

You Deserve Better.

Better Schools. Better Jobs. Better Richmond County.
